Jean-Marie Becker has been appointed the head of Suominen Nonwovens and a made member of the corporate executive team

This appointment follows the acquisition of Ahlstrom Home and Personal Business by Suominen. Becker has previously acted as executive vice president of Ahlstrom’s Home and Personal business area. Meanwhile, Nina Kopola has been named president and CEO of Suominen Corporation and Suominen Group, effective this month. Current president Petri Roligwill transfer to the post of deputy CEO, with primary responsibility for developing the Flexibles and Codi Wipes businesses. “Suominen’s Board of Directors estimates that successful leadership of the new Suominen, which launched its operations November 1, will be best achieved with a management team that has broad international business experience. Nina Kopola’s diverse background as a corporate executive, as well as her extensive international experience and solid competence convinced the Board that she is the best person for the job, since the goal is to ensure the most effective and knowledgeable management for Suominen in this new situation,” states Jorma Eloranta, chairman of Suominen’s Board of Directors. In other news, Suominen, following the acquisition of Ahlstrom’s spunlace business, has made some adjustments to its executive team. Arto Kiiskinen, vice president and CFO of Suominen Corporation; Erik van Deursen, general manager of Suominen Codi Wipes and MikkoPellinen, vice president and general manager of Suominen Flexibles will continue to be members of the corporate executive team. All thosementioned will report to the new president and CEO of Suominen Corporation. The representatives notified by the company’s three largest shareholders have been elected to Suominen Corporation’s Nomination Committee. The representatives are: Jan Lång, president & CEO, Ahlstrom Corporation Timo Ritakallio, deputy CEO, Ilmarinen Mutual Pension Insurance Company; and Risto Murto, executive vice-president, Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company. Jorma Eloranta, chairman of Suominen’s Board of Directors, serves as the Nomination Committee’s expert member.
